Wolfs Robe / aka Flute Man

New Program Available November 2008 Kokopelli and the ant People This Program relates the story of legendary Native American deity Kokopelli . Mesmerized by Kokopelli's haunting flute music and calmed by the thumping of the drum in his belly, the naive Ant People follow Kokopelli out of the Dark World through four layers of other worlds until they reach the Green World, where sunlight "shriveled their underground skins" and they become the First People. Along the way, they learn about growing food, getting along with others, and respecting elders, which enables them to survive and flourish in their new environment. Wolfs Robe will take listeners on this magical journey playing his own flutes as he goes while teaching about this mythical South West figure. (Teachers) Before this program it would be a good idea to share with students some history of the South West and the ancient peoples of the regions. This Program is designed for Grades. 3-5.

Kokopellis Legacy is a performance/lecture. During this one hour event Wolfs Robe will cover some of the Native American flute (NAF) History from the South West to the South East and into the Plains. Wolfs Robe will discuss the Ancestral Pueblo flutes (rim blown flutes) that have been found from Meso America all the way up to Chaco Canyon. Participants will also see and hear an actual antique (Cherokee) river cane flute from the mid 1700’s also several replica plains and great lakes flutes. Wolfs Robe will end up with the evolution of the (NAF) the double or drone flute. Wolfs Robe will play all of these flutes and explain in some detail about their History. Some time at the end will be left for question and answer. *
